In older age, hearing and speech deterioration catches up with almost everyone. This can lead to isolation and depression, which can significantly reduce the quality of life of a person whose abilities are declining. Individually selected and well-fitted hearing aids can help prevent this.
Unrecognised hearing loss is a barrier to learning to speak and to the optimal development of intellectual skills. I believe it is of the utmost importance to detect hearing loss as soon as possible and to start hearing rehabilitation.
