In diabetes care, I am able to provide long-term care for my patients, managing complications over the course of decades, and internal medicine and gastroenterology are an indispensable part of this. In this context, it is extremely important to establish and maintain good metabolic control in order to prevent complications.
This long-term collaboration requires an incredibly trusting relationship. When a patient comes to see me, I inevitably form an immediate professional “impression,” but it’s important for me to get to know them—their personal background, the whole person—because every therapy is tailored to the individual and unique. This requires earning that trust and standing by patients with faith, heart, and love.
