I find that the most important thing for patients is that the doctor sees them as a person. It means a lot to them if we allow them time to talk about their fears or their thoughts about the procedure. That's why I always make time for this. It's essential to be professional and have the most up-to-date knowledge, but if we can't give the patients what they need in terms of humanity, none of this is enough.
