"My choice of career was clearly determined by my parents' background, as my father was the head of the Department of Surgery at Vas Street Hospital and my mother was the head of the Department of Urology at Kútvölgy Hospital. My main interest in medicine was in the field of surgery, and my mother, on the basis of her own experience, recommended urology. Besides surgery, I was most attracted to the treatment of children, and paediatric urology is still perhaps the field that is closest to my heart."
"I try to deal with problems in a holistic way, which means that on the one hand I try to support those who come to me psychologically, if necessary. The other side of this approach is that I not only try to treat different pathologies with medication, but also use herbal extracts of natural ingredients whenever possible. In urology there are many possibilities: some diseases respond very well to herbal therapies and fortunately the profession is not shying away from these treatments. So it is not a kind of alternative medicine, but an integral part of traditional medical treatments."
Education
I graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of Semmelweis University in 1986.
Job experience
I started to learn the basics of urology at the Department of Urological Surgery of Heim Pál Children's Hospital: I felt very lucky to have this opportunity, because from the very beginning I wanted to work with children, and I was also very interested in urological surgery.
I worked here until 2001, a long enough period to have gained sufficient experience in the surgical management of urological problems affecting children. A paediatric surgeon colleague at Heim Paul then transferred me to the Department of Paediatric Surgery at St John's Hospital, after he was appointed to head the department. I worked at this institution until 2021, when I turned to private care. I am happy that my medical relationship with children has thus remained continuous since 1988.
