I am Dr. Zsófia Szakál-Tóth, a specialist in cardiology. I obtained my medical degree at Semmelweis University, then specialized in cardiology at the Városmajor Heart and Vascular Center. In my PhD research, I examine how the general condition and various organ system reserves of patients awaiting heart transplantation influence the success of the surgery and their long-term recovery.
My scientific work is marked by numerous international publications and conference presentations, including within the European Society of Cardiology and Eurotransplant. In my research, I focus on areas such as factors influencing the long-term success of heart transplantation, perioperative and postoperative support of cardiac patients with specialized circulatory support devices, and factors affecting the long-term survival of patients who have undergone resuscitation. For my clinical activity, I have received several recognitions, including the “Resident of the Year” and “Hero of Semmelweis” awards from Semmelweis University.
