Within the urology department, my main areas of interest are radical tumour surgery and minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. My main focus is on the organisation of patient journeys for patients with testicular tumours and bladder tumours undergoing trimodal treatment.
In our work as doctors, we are often faced with the fact that while modern medicine is becoming more and more effective in helping patients, there is less and less time for the doctor to meet the patient. More and more tests are available, but they are often carried out by special machines, without the doctor being present. More and more complex treatments and medicines are available, but there is often not enough time to explain everything during the examination. A patient who is worried and anxious often only remembers many important questions when he or she has left the doctor's office. In addition, the anxious patient who is unfamiliar with medical "jargon" may not understand everything that is explained.
