I graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at Semmelweis Medical University in 1977. Immediately after graduation, I started working at the Department of Internal Medicine IV of the Szent János Hospital of the Municipality of Budapest, and since 1993 I have been the head of the same department (now called Department of Internal Medicine I and Gastroenterology). During my university years I won the first prize of the Rector's scientific competition.
